Soe Lwin Lwin, also known by the affectionate nickname Po Po, was one of the defining voices of Myanmar's Burmese pop scene in the 1980s and 1990s. Born on September 18, 1962, in Rangoon (present-day Yangon), he emerged as both a gifted singer and a prolific composer, penning hits not only for himself but for fellow stars such as Kai Za and Hlwan Moe. His debut album launched in 1982, opening a career that would span nearly two decades and produce beloved tracks including "Chit Lu Mike,” "A May," and "Maung Myat Yay Wine" — songs that remain touchstones of Burmese pop nostalgia. Soe Lwin Lwin's warm, emotive vocal style and knack for melody placed him alongside contemporaries like Htoo Eain Thin as one of the era's most influential songwriters. His life and career were cut short when he passed away in Yangon on July 25, 1999, at just 36 years old, but his catalog continues to resonate with generations of Myanmar music listeners.
