Htoo Eain Thin

Htoo Eain Thin

BIOGRAPHY

Htoo Eain Thin (aka Kyaw Myint Lwin, July 1, 1963 – August 14, 2004) was a pioneering Burmese singer-songwriter from Pathein who studied physics at the University of Mawlamyine before breaking into music with his 1986 debut album Naryi Baw Mha Myet Yay Zet Mya ("Tear Drops on the Clock") — a rare original release in a scene then dominated by Burmese covers of Western songs. Blending Western jazz, rock, and pop with Burmese soulfulness, he went on to release 14 albums over an 18-year career, with standards like May Lite Tot (မေ့လိုက်တော့) , Min Ma Shi Tae Nout (မင်းမရှိတဲ့နောက်) , and Sway Tal (ဆွေးတယ်) still beloved today, cementing his legacy as one of the artists who moved Myanmar's pop scene toward original songwriting.
